The Tribe’s private college preparatory school is located on the Reservation. Morongo School opened its new site in September 2010 enrolling students through Grade 6 and expanded to include Grades 7 & 8 in 2011. Initial planning has been completed for Morongo “Upper” School (Grades 9-12) - would have four Centers of Excellence (Center for Excellence in Communications, Center for Excellence in Environmental Studies, Center for Creative & Performing Arts, and Center for Excellence in Governance & Leadership) to Morongo students.
Morongo School provides each student with a solid academic foundation and Cultural Enrichment Programs and introduces all students to the rich history, culture, language and traditions of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. Small classes instructed by a fully credentialed teacher and Instructional Aide support an individualized education program for every student. Morongo School’s performance standards are high and every student is prepared well for college entrance and productive lives as adult members of The Tribe and the World at large.
An Academic Enrichment Program offers students French, Spanish, Music, and/or Performing & Creative Arts instruction beginning at the 2nd Grade level. Enrichment Classes last the full year and students have the option of switching classes each quarter in Grades 2-8. In Grades 9-12, students will take enrichment classes that may earn them Advanced Placement (AP) Credit from The University of California.
