A:

The present gaming facility, the Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa, is one of the largest tribal gaming facilities in the nation.  With its diversification into non-gaming businesses, the tribe has become the largest private sector employer in the Banning-Beaumont region and is a major contributor to the Coachella Valley economy.

How is the Morongo Band of Mission Indians self-reliant?

A:

In 1997, Morongo opened one of the largest Shell gasoline stations in the country.  The Morongo Shell station made national and international headlines in 2000 when the tribe thanked California voters for their support by offering gas at $1 a gallon.  In 1999 they also opened an A&W Restaurant and a Coco's Restaurant.  During the same year the tribe acquired Hadley Fruit Orchards.

A: The new $250 million Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa is the largest private sector employer in the region employing more than 2,400 people and serving thousands of patrons daily.  The casino's revenue production provides the foundation for the tribe's economic diversification.
Education
Q: What education advancement opportunities are available to students at Morongo?
A: Morongo's class of 2000 was the tribe's largest ever high school graduating class and the tribe has continued to encourage high school completion. Morongo now has a university scholarship program that provides any Morongo member with a college education.
