Adverse Weather Conditions on the Morongo Reservation

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning signaling hazardous wind speeds for valley and mountain areas until 5 PM Thursday, saying winds will strengthen and become more widespread into this morning.

HIGH WIND WARNING WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM PST THURSDAY, MAY 1ST, 2014

Location: Coastal Mountain slopes and adjacent inland areas with strongest gusts below the Cajon and San Gorgonio passes, the Santa Ana Mountains, and the San Diego County Mountains.

Morongo Reservation Status:

  • Currently the Morongo stretch is closed until further notice due to three power/phone poles that are severely damaged. Verizon is on the scene.
  • There are reports of downed trees and debris on the roads.
  • Tribal Security Patrol is on-site at a downed power line between two poles on tribal property, east of the East Casino. Morongo Fire, Public Works, MCRS, Engineering, and Security Departments are all on the scene.
