Pass Chorale to Begin Rehearsals

The Pass Chorale, a community chorus serving the Pass area, begins rehearsals for its Spring Concert on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m., at San Manuel Gathering Hall at Dorothy Ramon Learning Center, 127 N. San Gorgonio Ave., Banning.

The Pass Chorale needs more singers to participate in this special concert. Beaumont celebrated its centennial in 2012 and Banning will do so in 2013. The Spring Concert will have special presentations to honor these events.

The Spring Concert on May 19 will feature American composers, especially those with connections to Southern California. The major work will be Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen, a composer based in Los Angeles who went to the University of Southern California with Pass Chorale Director Ernest Siva and his wife, June.

This concert also will feature local fiddler Bill Bell and some of his Stagecoach Music. Bell discovered music for the “Song of Banning” and is making an arrangement for the Chorale.

The Pass Chorale may even sing the Banning High alma mater at the concert, which will feature Native American songs from the Pass area, as well, and much more.
