Cahuilla/Serrano Elder Ernest Siva of Morongo Named 11th Spirit of the Heard Award Recipient

The Heard Museum is proud to present its 11th annual Spirit of the Heard award to Ernest H. Siva (Cahuilla/Serrano) of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians for his work in preserving Native American Indian cultures, languages, history, and the arts. The ceremony will take place during the Arizona American Indian Excellence in Leadership Awards on Nov. 4 at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Richard Milanovich Dies at 69

Richard Milanovich, a longtime chairman of Riverside County's Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and a leader in the effort to legalize and grow the state's tribal gaming industry, died Sunday. He was 69.

Governor Signs Tribal Gaming Bills

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and the Morongo Band of Mission Indians along with two other tribes this morning reached the end of a campaign to expand their tribal casinos when the governor signed bills ratifying revised gambling agreements.
