Morongo Awards $20K in Scholarships to Support Native Students

Meghan Wright and Cara Sue Owings are the winners of the 2013 Rodney T. Mathews Jr. Scholarship and will each receive a $10,000 award toward their higher education.
The scholarship is open to all enrolled members of the more than 100 federally recognized tribes in California.

A Morongo tribal councilman was appointed to the Federal Emergency Management Agency National Advisory Council, FEMA announced Friday.

Brian Lugo, a member of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians tribal council in Banning, is one of 10 new appointees to the FEMA advisory council.

Proposed Morongo Outdoor Entertainment Lease Agreement

The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA), dated August, 2013, for the proposed Morongo Outdoor Entertainment Center located on the Morongo Indian Reservation, west of Cabazon, California, to determine environmental impacts that may result as a consequence of the BIA approval of a lease between the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and Garson Entertainment Group, LLC for the Morongo Outdoor Entertainment Facility on the Morongo Indian Reservation.
